Lore & Background

Magolor first appears when his ship, the Lor Starcutter, flies out of a dimensional rift and crashes onto Popstar. He tells Kirby and his friends that the five vital pieces of his ship have been scattered across the planet, along with 120 Energy Spheres scattered across both Popstar and Halcandra. Offering a trip to his homeworld of Halcandra as thanks, he sends the group to recover the lost pieces. After they retrieve the main pieces and travel to Halcandra, they are attacked by a four-headed dragon named Landia. Magolor claims Landia is an evil beast that has taken over Halcandra and sends Kirby to defeat it. However, once Landia is defeated, Magolor reveals his true motive was to steal the Master Crown on its head. He wears the crown and uses it to turn into a large monster, with the intent of making the entire universe bow before him, beginning with Popstar. Teaming up with Landia (who has split into four individual dragons), Kirby and his friends chase Magolor in Another Dimension. During the chase, Magolor uses the Lor Starcutter to try to defeat them, but they defeat the ship. Magolor then removes Kirby and his friends from the Landia dragons before they come to fight him in a final battle, where he transforms into a larger monster. Kirby and his friends destroy the Master Crown, while Magolor is transported to somewhere. With the crown shattered and Magolor defeated, Kirby and friends return to Popstar, escaping the collapsing Another Dimension. A non-canon Extra Mode, which replaces Magolor's final form with Magolor Soul, reveals that Magolor may have been used as a puppet by the Master Crown itself. In the Switch remake's Epilogue, Magolor becomes a playable character, having been stripped of his powers and forced to regain them. He can levitate for short intervals and produce energy attacks at first, gaining more abilities when upgraded.

In Their Own Story

The Lor Starcutter groaned as it tore through the dimensional rift, its hull screaming before it slammed into the soft earth of Popstar. Magolor stumbled out, dazed, and found himself face-to-face with a pink puffball, a king with a hammer, a knight in a mask, and a waddle dee with a spear. 'Please,' he said, 'help me find the pieces of my ship. I just want to go home.' They agreed, and together they scoured the planet, collecting the five vital pieces and 120 Energy Spheres. When they reached Halcandra, a four-headed dragon named Landia attacked. 'It's an evil beast!' Magolor cried. 'Defeat it!' But after Landia fell, Magolor's smile twisted. He snatched the Master Crown from the dragon's head and placed it on his own. 'Now I will make the entire universe bow before me!' he declared, transforming into a monstrous form. Kirby and his friends, joined by the four Landia dragons, chased him through Another Dimension. Magolor piloted the Lor Starcutter against them, but they destroyed it. In the final battle, Magolor became a giant monster, but Kirby and his allies shattered the Master Crown. Magolor was transported away, and the heroes escaped as Another Dimension collapsed. Later, in the Epilogue, a powerless Magolor had to regain his abilities, levitating and firing energy attacks as he worked his way back to strength.
