King Dedede has appeared in all Kirby games except Kirby & the Amazing Mirror. His role has evolved from a straightforward antagonist in Kirby's Dream Land to a more complex figure who frequently allies with Kirby against greater threats. While early games depicted him as a selfish hoarder, later entries show him teaming up with Kirby when a greater threat emerges that is not controlling him. He sighed, setting down a fork laden with cake crumbs, and stood up to his full height. With a deep breath that inflated his chest, he grabbed his Royal Hammer from its stand. "Trouble again?" he grumbled, marching toward the balcony where smoke billowed over Dream Land. He adjusted his crown, ensuring it sat perfectly straight despite the chaos below. "Very well," he declared to the empty hall, his voice booming with authority. "If Kirby is busy being a hero, someone else must protect this kingdom." With a determined grunt, the King launched himself into the sky.
