Lore & Background

In *Kirby and the Forgotten Land*, Waddle Dees are the citizens of Dream Land who are sucked into a vortex and kidnapped by the Beast Pack. They are held in cages throughout the stages of the forgotten land, and Kirby's goal is to rescue them. Once freed, they return to Waddle Dee Town, which grows as more Waddle Dees are saved. This growth unlocks new minigames: fishing, working a part-time job at Waddle Dee Café, and a puzzle minigame akin to *Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble*. The Waddle Dees are also assisted by a chinchilla-like creature named Elfilin, who helped them settle in Waddle Dee Town after they were transported to the new world. The Beast Pack, formed by Fecto Forgo possessing Leongar, kidnapped the Waddle Dees for labor to resume their invasion. King Dedede was also hypnotized by the Beast Pack to assist them, but Kirby freed him by destroying a hypnotic mask.

In Their Own Story

One day on Planet Popstar, a dark vortex appeared over Dream Land, sucking up everything in its path. Kirby and the Waddle Dees were among those sucked into the vortex and found themselves in a new world. The Waddle Dees were kidnapped by the native wildlife, the Beast Pack. Kirby discovered the destroyed Waddle Dee Town and met Elfilin, who had helped the Waddle Dees settle there. Elfilin explained that he and the Waddle Dees attempted to fight back but were overwhelmed. Kirby offered to help Elfilin rescue the missing Waddle Dees. The goal of each stage is to rescue the Waddle Dees, who are freed by finding them trapped in cages throughout the stage, as well as by accomplishing certain goals specific to each stage. Once rescued, they return to Waddle Dee Town. As the player rescues more Waddle Dees, the town size increases, unlocking new minigames.

Reader's Guide

To rescue Waddle Dees in *Kirby and the Forgotten Land*, the player must complete each stage by finding them trapped in cages or by accomplishing certain goals specific to each stage. Once rescued, they return to Waddle Dee Town, the main hub area. As more Waddle Dees are rescued, the town size increases, unlocking new minigames: fishing, working a part-time job at Waddle Dee Café, and a puzzle minigame akin to *Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble*. The game also supports Amiibo functionality. In the story, the Waddle Dees are kidnapped by the Beast Pack for labor, and Kirby must defeat the Beast Pack's high council members and their leader Leongar, who is possessed by Fecto Forgo. After the main story, an optional post-game involves rescuing Leongar from an alternate dimension called Forgo Dreams, with the help of Clawroline and Elfilin.
